Blue Tit
Parus caeruleus

A widespread bird on the Rodwell Trail, easy to see in all sections apart from the 2 treeless southernmost ones.

In spring the male can sometimes be seen performing a display flight in front of the female, where he somehow manages to glide on outstretched wings, something that is normally only possible by much larger birds.

Blue Tits are best identified from other tits by their blue and white heads with little black.
