For most of the year this gull is far from common, only arriving in any numbers in November and flying off north to breed in March. Radipole has a large flock of Common Gulls most days in the winter, but they rarely fly over Weymouth apart from to and from their roost in Weymouth Bay. Consequently they are rarely seen from the Rodwell Trail, apart from the odd one or two in Portland Harbour.
