As you would expect this species is pretty widespread along the trail, except in exposed areas such as in section 7 near Ferrybridge and in very shady areas such as Rodwell Cutting (section 3).

The photo shows what an attractive bird the male is, but he only keeps these bright colours for a month or two in late spring and early summer.

Although there is a lot in the press about sparrows becoming rare, they are still common enough around Weymouth.
