After yesterday's cardinal beetle, I came across this much bigger bloody-nosed beetle on Portland.
Next was an enormous Armadillidium woodlouse.
Nearby, in Bottomcoombe Quarry was this very small blue.
A dramatic population explosion of the nastily irritant brown-tail moth caterpillars proved to be ideally timed for the visit of the extremely rare great spotted cuckoo.
After spending hours waiting for the cuckoo to pose close enough for a photo I managed to get a photo of one of the caterpillars.
