At this time of year the paths at Radipole Lake are lined by the tall umbellifer Hemlock Water Dropwort. Although very poisonous to humans a huge range of insects feed on the nectar and pollen in its enormous flower-heads. This Small Tortoiseshell was feeding in the warm sunshine early this morning.
This next video from a couple of years ago features Honey Bees and a Dronefly, again on the Hemlock Water Dropwort at Radipole.
A year earlier, in 2018, this Longhorn Beetle was feeding in the same spot.
