Most of the time grey herons seem to be very lazy birds, spending most of the day stood still at the edges of lakes and rivers.
But then they are mostly nocturnal, with the Weymouth birds all flying to Portland Harbour each evening to fish on the shoreline.
This morning there were still two or three herons on the beach at Underbarn, one of them managed to catch quite a big wrasse.
